Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.  (Philippians 4:8)

What I Am Reading:

Primal Screams by Mary Eberstadt.  Eberstadt is one of the leading scholars documenting the devastation of the sexual revolution.   For reviews of Eberstadt’s book, see here (The Federalist) and here (The Public Discourse).  If this topic interests you, you can also follow Heather Mac Donald and Mark Regnerus.

Vindicating the Founders by Thomas West (professor at Hillsdale College).  Of all the prejudices in America today, perhaps the most dangerous is presentism – a bias against those who happen to have died before our time.  West provides a necessary correction to the present, presentist narrative.  (SPOILER ALERT:  The Constitution was not a pro-slavery document.)

Pray for Z. – My oldest son is recovering from serious mental illness.  He is currently in a demanding apprenticeship in musical instrument repair.  This upcoming week he will find out whether he passed probation.  Special prayers requested!
